About

Elza Kayal Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of David Szauder’s solo exhibition. The exhibition presents a dynamic selection of AI-generated videos and stills, informed by Szauder’s deep visual knowledge of art history, folklore traditions, and pop culture. Many works featured in the book will be on view, accompanied by objects that directly or indirectly influence the artist’s creative process. This marks the gallery’s second collaboration with Szauder, who previously participated in Surrealism Now, a group exhibition in February 2025.

Elza Kayal Gallery extends its gratitude to the Tulipan Foundation, Art Wall JC, Coolvines (350 Warren St, Jersey City, NJ) and Walter K. Lew for their generous support of these events.

Opening Reception

Artist

David Szauder is a Hungarian media artist whose practice stands at the intersection of technology, cultural heritage, and digital storytelling. Working with artificial intelligence as both tool and subject, he investigates how memory, folklore, visual history, and digital systems shape identity and society. His practice spans computer code–based digital images, interactive installations, and curatorial projects, alongside his work as lecturer and art director.

At a time when AI is both celebrated for its potential and questioned for its risks, Szauder’s work takes on urgent cultural relevance. His projects explore the creative possibilities of AI while critically addressing issues of authorship, cultural memory, authenticity, and the preservation of human narratives in an increasingly automated world. Through Glitches & Glory, he transforms technological “glitches” into a new visual language—one that reframes digital aesthetics while expanding the ways we imagine our relationship to memory, technology, and artistic expression.
